On Tuesday we took 20 Year 7 and 8 athletes and 14 sports leaders ranging from Years 7 to 13 to the Bradford School Games at Bradford University. The event was really well organised and our students were outstanding throughout. Our Year 8 boys won the athletics event by a huge margin meaning that they have become Bradford champions and progress to the West Yorkshire championships. This team included Aaron West, Hassan Ali, Ben Bott, Nat Dewing, Lewis Pringle and Ethan Hunt. Our Year 8 girls finished in 2nd place and were again brilliant surpassing all of my expectations. They have also qualified for the West Yorkshire championships. This team included Abby Spalding, Jasmine Thapa, Neve Gallagher, Chloe Smith and Priya Sandhu. Finally the year 7 boys worked really hard and led the event for most of the day but were disappointed to just miss out, finishing 4th. They still did the school proud though. The team was Cameron King, Jack Farndale, James Cleary, Ethan Gill, Josh Young, Omaan Rashid, Ethen-Gage Rhodes, Rhys Stranney and Reece Kellet
Our sports leaders were brilliant as always and are a credit to the work that Daniel Yates and Jack Summers have carried out with these students over the last year. They helped to organise and officiate the athletics events for both the primary and secondary school competition. These students deserve huge credit once again and were James Butler, Logan Wood (Yr 13), Jonathan Robinson, Nina Cecconi, Monica Stube, Hifsa Kauser Mohammed (Yr 11), Tom Butler, Rhys Shepherd, Caleb Keighley, Shaun Barron, Amaan Sadiq, James Smith (Yr 10), Ryan Spinks (Yr 8) and Morgan Hotham-Fuller (Yr7).
